Chuck has been a real estate appraiser and consultant since 1972. He co-founded the Dallas based firm Crosson Dannis, Inc. in 1976. For over 35 years, the firm provided real estate appraisal and consultation services throughout the U.S. for many of the nation’s largest real estate lenders and owners. In January 2015, the firm merged with National Valuation Consultants, Inc., creating one of the country’s largest privately held real estate appraisal and consulting firms.

Chuck has been actively involved in the real estate community on the local and national levels and is the recipient of several prestigious honors and awards. He is past Chairman of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciary’s (“NCREIF”) Valuation Committee and past Treasurer and Member of its Board (1997-2001; 2015-2023). He was Chairman of the Board in 2020-2022. He co-developed the NCREIF sponsored “Nuts and Bolts of Institutional Real Estate” educational program and has taught the appraisal module since 2001. He has been an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association, American Real Estate Society and Urban Land Institute. A frequent lecturer, Mr. Dannis also hosted a weekly talk radio show, “The Real Estate Hour,” on the CBS Radio affiliate, KRLD, from 1992 to 2008, and again in 2020-2022. His real estate blog in DCEO magazine has been named in the top 10 in readership. He is an award–winning faculty member at the Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as at the SMU Cox School of Business where he has taught real estate since 1988. Mr. Dannis was an independent director of TIER REIT (2003-2017), a $2b+ publicly traded office company and became Chairman of the Board in 2013. Mr. Dannis is Chairman Emeritus of The Dallas Marathon and the 2011 recipient of its Victory Award for Excellence for his service to the community. In 2009, Chuck received the prestigious Commandant of The Marine Corps Quality Citizen Award. He also serves on the boards of several other Dallas area non-profits: The Shelton School in Dallas (an internationally known school for children that learn differently) and The Folsom Institute for Real Estate at SMU (Vice Chair, Education). In 2002, Chuck was appointed by the Mayor to the City of Dallas’ seven-member Real Estate Task Force and was named twice as Chairman of the Economic Review Panel for the City of Dallas’ Landmark Commission. In 2016, Chuck was awarded by the Appraisal Institute’s Education Trust its “Dr. William Kinnard, Jr. Award” for his contributions to the real estate appraisal industry.  In 2019, Chuck received the  North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors’ “Michael F. McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award” for his contributions to the real estate industry and community.  Chuck is included in DCEO’s “Most Influential 500 Leaders” in 2023.
